Syrian theatre and contemporary writing

  • Kaaistudio's

This afternoon focuses on Syrian theatre and on the work of a young generation of contemporary playwrights. We present two publications of freshly translated work to dutch by Syrian writers. Je ne m’en souviens plus by Waël Ali questions the intersection between individual memory
and collective memory, at a pivotal moment in Syrian history. Liwaa Yazji’s Goats explores our choice as a society to believe lies and propaganda, and the expansive effect when a person questions this ‘truth’.

in different languages - Liwaa Yazji and Waël Ali will be in conversation with performing arts manager and artistic consultant Jumana Al-Yasiri.
